There are a lot of things that are illegal, the problem is people in this country place dogs and cats above humans. The whole situation is quite pathetic imo, he did wrong but this doesn't compare to Pac-Man, Ray Lewis, or Larry Johnson who all have played this season. The topic of this thread is Michael Vick.
I never once mentioned other athletes/celebrities and their crimes. They too should receive appropriate punishment, but because of their celebrity they get chance after chance while little kids idolize them.

Your idea of "it's a D-O-G" is different from others.
I work in animal rescue and it's rescue groups like ours that wind up having to clean up the mess that people like Vick make. And yes others with similar crimes are prosecuted too and they don't get second chances like he does and they certainly aren't idolized.

He had a decent team when he was in Atlanta. His WRS were no worse than those that Kerry Collins is working with.

IMO several of the cases against athletes involving women is just b/c they are a target b/c they are rich and black. Not being racist, but a woman files a complaint and they can get some money.

Again, where is anybody saying that woman abusers/rapists/murderers shouldn't be put away? Nobody is saying that. Bringing that into the argument is ludicrous. It isn't my fault, your fault, vick's fault, or the dogs fault that they aren't tried and found guilty. What Vick did left a trail of undisputable evidence showing that he broke the law. It's simple really.

I don't hold dogs or cats(i despise cats) or any animal for that matter above a human. I do however like dogs alot, and I own twoo pit bulls myself. I think dogs hold a higher standing than other animals, I'll agree with that. But to force animals to fight each other so you can bet your millions on it is despicable. A domesticated animal is fully dependant on people, and helpless. Then choosing awful and cruel ways to euthanize the animals once they were too badly injured to get better when you have millions is also stupid.

What he did was wrong, and I don't think you have to be a member of PETA, know what PETA is, or even give a [censored] about PETA to see it.

Quit feeling sorry for they guy, he did this to himself. He's a thug.

They don't? I'd love to know what person doesn't get a second chance in our legal system. So you don't agree with the Larry Johnson situation or Pac-Man, or Ray Lewis? What punishment should they get?

He can stay in prison for the rest of his life for all I care. He's pretty pathetic on and off the field.

It is pretty ridiculous the status that some animals have in this country in relation to humans. i've heard it from alot of people. animals are animals and should be treated humanely so i'm not defending what vick did but i also can't stand the way people try to put them on a level with humans. that is pagan and against God's divine word. when God created man he gave man dominion over all the beasts of the field(including dogs). they were not meant to have equal status with man like they do in the minds of many people in our society. they were created for man's sustenance and use.

our legal system has begun to adopt this pagan philosophy of animals holding equal status to man and i feel that is part of the reason vick's sentence was so harsh in comparison to those who commit crimes against humans. i disagree with what the man did but he has more than paid his debt to society and i hope he gets reinstated to play and succeeds in the nfl.

i'm pretty sure the bible also doesn't say to breed a bunch of dogs like crazy, force them to fight each other while gambling on it, then be too crappy of a human to kill them humanely.

pvfan - nobody but you is saying feed your dog off of the same plate you eat on but you. i understand that some people go the extreme when it comes to their dog, and you obviously loathe that. vick has went to the complete opposite spectrum of that.

don't really see how the legal system is being unfair to him either...maybe one of you guys can enlighten me

Vick was exciting to watch and may be in the future. But, there is no way he will lead a team to a super bowl win. No way.
